Waste NOT!!!!

Yes, First Aid supplies have expiry dates on most of their items.  The main reason being, they contain active ingredients. It is law in Australia that Workplace First Aid Kits must contain items that are ‘in’ date.

What do I do with the expired items?

Whilst these items have an expired date on them, they are still perfectly good for use within a certain period. After my workplace audits, I remove all the expired items and can end up with bags of expired stock.

Here’s what I do.

Some employees see me working and approach me to ask for some items for their home, car, caravan etc. kits. Some people ask for items for their kids sporting team.

Some ask for the items to take to underdeveloped countries in need of First Aid Supplies.I am always happy to oblige.

We spend hours packaging these items into zip lock bags ensuring that they are still acceptable to use and donate them to whoever wants them.

After discussing this time-consuming task with two very special women, who do a lot of charity work, they have happily offered to bag up these items and distribute them to people who don’t have the funds to purchase these necessary, but costly, items.

Rosemary Campbell and Kate Cassidy are my volunteers that spend hours performing this task.

And it is all worth it when the recipient’s eyes light up.  They are so appreciated` and thankful for items they wouldn’t even contemplate buying.

Thank you to Rosemary and Kate for all your hard work.
