Planes, trains and automobiles

When people ask what I do for a living, I tell them I sell first aid supplies. 9 out of 10 times they say ‘ah’, and don't have too much else to add to that. If I meet someone who is bored or a little interested, they may then ask ‘who do you sell these to?’.

That’s when they are stuck with me!

It’s a common question. And most people take for granted that everywhere they go, there is a first aid kit in the building. Whether its the hair salon, a shopping centre, a sporting club or walking past a plumbers truck, there is a first aid kit, ready to be used.

By law, every business needs a first aid kit. Each industry has to comply with the requirements to ensure they stock the correct items that relate to their place of work. For example a holiday house that is being rented for investment purposes should have a standard household kit which can be purchased from a lot of retailers.

A business that operates in an environment that is of high risk to burns, needs to ensure that they have items appropriate to this injury.

So when people ask me who I sell first aid supplies to?  I say ‘every industry’ and everyone. Whether it’s an office environment, the gas plumber on the side of the road, theatres, television networks, gas and electricity companies, food industries, sporting clubs, fleet companies etc…you name it, I do it.

I know where all the kits are located and walk through the workplace without even being noticed. Most of my clients have a schedule of my visits. Whether it be a monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, 6 monthly or yearly visits to their place of work. I just turn up, replenish their first aid kits and mosey on to my next job.

It’s one less thing the company has to think about.

A few business’s I deal with, have their own employee’s checking the kits and email me their requirements and that’s also part of my business.

I am flexible and always aim to fit in with my customer’s requirements.

Today I will visit an aviation business, a company that makes bus seats and a fleet company.
